Koshas (also, Kosas) are the five sheaths that are thought to cover the Atman, or True Self, according to Vedantic philosophy.

The five Koshas are:
  1. Annamaya kosha, the food-body
  2. Pranamaya kosha, the breath (prana)
  3. Manomaya kosha, or “mind-sheath” (Manas)
  4. Vijnanamaya kosha, that which discriminates, determines or wills (Vijnana)
  5. Anandamaya kosha, or bliss (Ananda)
